The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living – Socrates
On the diet bandwagon
I got my health assesment for the Calorie Stampede this morning. Shamefully listed below are my not so vital statistics:
Weight: 263
% Fat: 28
Height: 6’0″
Age: 37
Waist: 43
Hips: 40
Blood Pressure: 138 / 65 – this was a little skewed I think due to the small cuff they used.
My goals for the next 10 weeks are:
Lose 23lbs
walk 30 min twice a day at least 4 days a week
light weight program 4 times a week
more vegetables in my diet
Sounds easy? Not when I agreed not to eat after 7pm.
Humph. That wasn’t bright.

Part of your comment is correct however I think you need to dig deeper. Cholesterol is what carries all the hormones that regulate your body, it is an essential part of your systems. Not only that, there are critical differences between HDL and LDL and in fact, the ratio is what is important. A high LDL is not a problem if it is accompanied by a high LDL. Not only that, the TYPE of LDL now has been identified as being a critical issue. The type of LDL that comes from animal proteins is a “big fluffy” type that is determined to have no ill effect, whereas the LDL that we need to be concerned about, the “small and tough” type is much more rare. I would suggest you do a quick search for “cholesterol myth” and read some of the articles that are recent enough to indicate what the emerging truths are: Cholesterol in your diet has little or no affect on your serum cholesterol and cholesterol is so critical that every cell in your body has the ability to create it. Not only that, but the so called “bad” cholesterol has been revealed as a mythical evil.
That said, thanks for the comment.
